How we use it and our lawful basis

To provide the services you ask for, including stamp duty reviews, Finer FX, investor relations and wealth planning (performance of a contract, or steps at your request before entering one).

To meet legal and regulatory obligations, including anti-money-laundering, fraud prevention, tax and record-keeping requirements (legal obligation).

To run and improve our business, keep records, protect our systems and handle complaints (legitimate interests, balanced against your rights).

Nothing on this website is used to make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where needed, with:

our FCA-authorised partners who provide regulated services, including [authorised payment institution] for Finer FX and [authorised advice firm] for regulated advice and mortgages;

HM Revenue & Customs and other public bodies, for example when we submit a stamp duty amendment on your behalf;

identity verification, anti-fraud and credit reference providers;

professional advisers such as solicitors, accountants and auditors;

IT, hosting, email and document-management providers who process information for us under contract;

other companies within Finer International, where this is needed to provide a service you have asked for; and

a buyer or successor if all or part of our business is sold or restructured.

We never sell your personal information.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the ICO’s international data transfer agreement or addendum.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Client and transaction records, including anti-money-laundering records, are normally kept for at least five and up to seven years after our relationship ends, to meet legal and regulatory requirements. Enquiries that do not lead to a client relationship are normally deleted within two years.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: ask for a copy of your information; ask us to correct it; ask us to delete it; ask us to restrict or object to how we use it; ask us to transfer it to another organisation; and withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

To use any of these rights, contact hello@finercapital.com. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted transfer. Email is not always secure, so please do not send identity or bank documents by ordinary email unless we have agreed a secure method with you.
